The northeastern portion of Pennsylvania that is our home base area is unfortunately very urban and recovering from the economic and environmental impacts of past generations.

There are however many public access trails, state parks ( I live near Lackawanna State park Myself) and quite a bit of state forest areas left. I have camped at a number of state parks but frankly organized "park camping " in assigned campsites is not my thing.     One of the wilder and pristine parks is Worlds End State park.It lives up to that name.I have also hiked and backpacked thru the Tioga State Forest outside of Coudersport  PA. which was more to my liking.Wild enough to have mountain lions in the area:ohmy:  Oh yeah.... Game comission denies it but the local know better as some of their cows were attacked and show large CLAW MARKS. Definitely gives you an eerie feeling hiking thru the foret knowing that possibly you might appear on a cat's lunch menu. I will be packing my Ruger .44 mag next time  I return.
